   Pwtin Self Catering Penmachno Nr Betws-y-coed

A charming stone-built mews cottage situated in the pretty and tranquil village of Penmachno in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. with views over open fields to the mountains beyond.  It is a traditionally furnished with cottage style furnishings, beamed ceilings and the woodburning stove makes it a warm and welcoming base for a holiday at any time of the year. Note: The property is not suitable for children (persons under age of 12).

The beach and many attractions are within 25 miles. Nearest shops are at Betws-y-coed 4 miles away, and there is a friendly pub 400 yards from the cottage. The cottage is an ideal base for touring the National Park, With Betws-y-coed, Snowdonia and Capel Curig within a short drive.

The Machno Valley is a beautiful location and there is abundant fishing nearby on the River Machno. The hilly surroundings make this a brilliant place for activity holidays. There are many pleasant mountain and forest walks to enjoy from the village including the spectacular Conwy Falls. You can walk on the mountains eg Wyddfa or Carnedau, while taking in the beautiful views of the National Park All these walks can be taken directly from the cottage.

Also the forest is a great area for biking tracks, with the popular Penmachno Mountain Bike Trail that starts from just outside the village and passes through the forests of Snowdonia.

The village is in the valley of the Afon (River) Machno, one of the upper tributaries of the Afon Conwy. As with its well known neighbour, Betws-y-Coed, it is situated within the Snowdonia National Park, but although it is just 4 miles from Betws it does not suffer the crowds.

Betws-y-Coed is North Wales' most popular inland resort. Surrounded by dense woodland and magnificent mountain country, this is a haven for walkers. At Betws-y-Coed the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the west, and the beauty of the area is enhanced by cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges. Most famous of all are the magnificent Swallow Falls, situated where the Llugwy River hurls itself into a spectacular chasm. The village has shops, pubs and places to eat and is home to The Snowdonia National Park Visitor Centre.
